Play Ocarina is built to collect as little as possible. This page says what that means today, in plain words. If anything changes, we update this page before the change goes live.
The short version
- Your microphone audio never leaves your device.
- There are no accounts, no cookies and no advertising trackers.
- If we add analytics, it will count visits without cookies and without following you around the web.
What happens to my microphone audio?
When the tuner is live, it uses your microphone only after you press start. Your browser works out the pitch on your own device. The sound is never recorded, stored, uploaded or sent to us or anyone else. If you choose to save a tuning result, we keep only the numbers (for example "C6: 12 cents sharp"), never any sound.
What data does the site collect?
Today, none about you. Like every website, our host (Vercel) processes the technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, to deliver the page and keep the site secure.
When we add privacy-friendly analytics, it will count things like page views and whether the tuner test was finished, in aggregate, without cookies and without session recording. You will be able to opt out.
When we open email updates, we will ask for your email address only, ask you to confirm it, and put an unsubscribe link in every email. We will never sell or share it.
Is Play Ocarina for children?
Play Ocarina is for a general audience. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before you sign up for anything on the site.
How do I contact you about my data?
Email hello@playocarina.com. You can ask what we hold about you (today, nothing), or ask us to delete it.
