How do you read a 4-hole fingering chart?

The mouthpiece is at the bottom of the picture. The two bottom holes are for your index fingers and the two top holes for your middle fingers, left hand on the left. Your thumbs simply hold the ocarina from underneath.

How do you play the sharps on a 4-hole ocarina?

Most sharps are cross-fingerings, where you cover holes out of order. C♯ and D♯ are half-holed: half cover the right middle finger's hole for C♯ and the right index finger's hole for D♯. Check half-holed notes with a chromatic tuner (our own ocarina tuner is on its way), because a little more or less cover moves the pitch a lot.

What songs can I play on a 4-hole ocarina?

Any tune that stays within one octave, from C to high C. Each song page on this site shows 4-hole tabs when the tune fits. Ready for a tune? Start with the easy ocarina songs, browse all the songs, or learn the Ocarina of Time songs.
