Lesson 3 of 8
Your first tune
About 5 minutes. Have your ocarina ready.
- 1New note: F
- 2New note: G
- 3Exercise: E, F and G
- 4Short tuneOde to Joy
- 5Next lessonUp to the top of the scale
Lesson 3 adds F and G to the notes you know and ends with the first line of Ode to Joy, your first real tune. The lesson shows each new fingering, listens through your microphone and moves on when you hold the note.
How do you play F and G on an ocarina?
F and G each change the fingering of the note below them, and the lesson names the holes for the ocarina you picked. On a 12-hole alto C they follow STL Ocarina's chart. Keep pressing with the pads of your fingers, as in lesson 1.
Which tune does lesson 3 end with?
The first line of Ode to Joy, written in the key of C so that it uses only the notes you know. The tune is public domain: our tabs follow IMSLP, Beethoven Symphony No. 9, first edition, B. Schott, Mainz, 1826, and its song page has the whole tune in its usual key.
