You learn to play the ocarina by covering and lifting its holes one note at a time, and our eight free lessons take you from your first note to your first songs, about five minutes each. They work on a 12-hole, 6-hole or 4-hole ocarina and listen through your microphone, so the page knows when you have the note.
How long does it take to learn the ocarina?
Each lesson takes about five minutes, and you can stop at any point: the page keeps your place, in this browser until you sign in and in your account after. Nothing is ever locked, so you can open any lesson. If you would rather spread the first notes over a week, your first week with an ocarina is a plan for that.
Which ocarina do you need for the lessons?
A 12-hole, 6-hole or 4-hole ocarina in C. Each lesson shows the holes for the ocarina you pick, and on a 12-hole alto C the fingerings follow STL Ocarina's chart. Still choosing one? The buying guide compares them, and the tuner tells you whether yours is in tune.
