Songs for a 4-hole ocarina
Updated 2026-10-29
A 4-hole ocarina in C plays one octave, from C to high C, so it plays any song that stays inside it. These 14 songs on our site do: 8 folk songs, hymns, carols and classics you can hear before you play, and 6 of the Ocarina of Time songs. Each song page has 4-hole tabs, a picture of the four holes for every note.

Which songs are too high for a 4-hole ocarina?
Any song that goes past high C. 14 of the 29 songs on this site do. 11 of them go just one step higher, to high D, among them Auld Lang Syne, Drunken Sailor and Epona's Song; a 4-hole has no fingering for high D, but a 6-hole or 12-hole ocarina plays them. Each song page says which ocarinas it fits.
Do any of these songs need a sharp on a 4-hole ocarina?
Morning Mood (G♯ and F♯) does; every other song here uses only the eight plain notes. On a 4-hole most sharps are cross-fingerings, and C♯ and D♯ are half-holed; the 4-hole fingering chart shows each one.
